I feel like I'm cosplaying as every fancy rich bro in every movie ever.This was originally purchased for a party and it came well over a month late so I didn't think we'd have any use for it anymore, but I'm so glad we decided to open it anyway.This thing is legit; the wood is solid and beautiful, and I love that the pieces for the return shoot magnetize together. It goes together in seconds and the mat really does lie pretty flat, even on carpet.My kids immediately started practicing and challenged themselves to hit the larger of the two holes first from two feet away, then three, then four, etc.My husband and I joined in and had to hit the smaller hole (the kids insisted). My husband is a decent golfer but the rest of us have no idea what we are doing and it was fun for everyone.We used a nugget couch to block off the open side of the mat (pictured) to cut down on missed puts going sailing through our basement window. (Like I said, we have no idea what we're doing.)I mentioned that I thought the mat was too smooth to replicate anything authentic on a putting green but my husband the golfer says it's just right—yes it's smooth but he thinks it's valuable to get really good at aiming and swing strength (the up-ramp at the end means you have to work harder) and not worry so much about the surface texture since that varies a lot in real life. (Who knew?)My kids are already plotting ways to turn it into a mini-golf course with obstacles. It rolls up really nicely but honestly I think we might keep it unrolled so anyone who wants to can stroll by and make a few putts (obviously while on calls about the numbers for Q4).Pro tip: We first tried those softer practice balls with this and they're not heavy enough to roll all the way back down to the start, but regular golf balls work great!

I like the measurements on the side so I know exactly how far I am from the hole. The backstop is perfect for when I overshoot. And I absolutely love the ball return so I can stay in the groove and not have to retrieve balls.im very happy with this mat!
Works beautifully, but it's not astroturf. It's a smooth surface. Takes about 20 minutes to perfect getting a hole in one every time. Not sure how this could honestly improve putting on a real course.
